Two years ago this month, this web site published three articles that unfairly attacked the political news web site Capitol Hill Blue and its founder/publisher, Doug Thompson.

The anonymous writer of the article, who is no longer affiliated with Journalisn't, did so because he had a personal gripe with Mr. Thompson over articles Capitol Hill Blue published about Presidential candidate Ron Paul.

The article claimed to be an unbiased examination of the credibility of Mr. Thompson and his web site. In fact, the entire series of articles was driven by a personal bias, contained false information, and linked to web sites that contained equally false information and that were driven by the personal agendas of those web site operators.

For example, the article claimed Mr. Thompson manufactured the names of writers for Capitol Hill Blue and then blamed them for his mistakes. We contacted him about these charges. He furnished us with the names, phone numbers and email addresses of each staff member -- both current and former -- and we were able to verify their identities without any problem.

The article also claimed Mr. Thompson manufacturered a phony source who often criticized President Bush. This information came from a blogger with a conservative Republican point-of-view.  Although the blogger claimed he "outed" Mr. Thompson, our research showed Mr. Thompson himself discovered the source was using a phony name and background and wrote about it first, informing his readers of the ruse and apologizing for publishing any quotes from the discredited source.  Mr. Thompson cooperated with us by furnishing copies of emails from that source and the name of the staff researcher who actually worked with that source and furnished the information to Capitol Hill Blue. Our conclusion is that both Mr. Thompson and Capitol Hill Blue acted ethically and honestly in this situation.

Journalistic credibility is not served by anonymous attacks against anyone. Captiol Hill Blue has been a fixture on the Internet for nearly 15 years. Because of its tough, bi-partisan stance on exposing the hypocrisies of politics, Capitol Hill Blue, in our opionion, is much more credible than the anonymous attack articles published here.

The articles no longer appear on this web site. We apologize to Mr. Thompson and Capitol Hill Blue. Journalisn't is refocusing its efforts and will relaunch soon with a new team.
